Targeted Audience: Ages 12+

The first woman in science has been dated back to 2700 BC, however, women were not acknowledged for their work until 1903 when Marie Curie was presented a Nobel Peace Prize. Even in modern times, women in science are looked down on due to their gender. It has been said that women can not grasp ideas as fast as men, that men are smarter, or have better capabilities of reaching farther in life. However, I want this magazine to show that this is not the case.

Women are strong, powerful, and smart — this needs to be taught at a young age. Usually, girls at 12 begin to pick and choose their future careers, essentially I don't want these girls to feel like they can't make it because of their gender.

Older girls in science may feel intimated by the number of men in this workforce, however, I want this magazine to make them feel powerful. I want women who once considered doing science but didn't because of intimidation to reconsider again.

A serious font with bright colors will help this type of audience pick up my magazine.

Institution and Distribution:
Publisher: Science | AAAS, United States

In 1848, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) was founded, marking the beginning of a national scientific community in the United States. While science has always been a part of the American scene, its practitioners have remained small in number and dispersed geographically and across fields. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) was the first permanent organization established to promote the advancement of science and engineering at the national level and to represent the interests of all of its branches.

AAAS's history has been intertwined with the advancement of American science. AAAS established an exhibit of relics to commemorate its sesquicentennial in 1998, giving visitors an insight into some of the individuals and events that have shaped the organization's history.

I will create an online website that will be approved by Science | AAAS that will consist of articles and social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. This will help keep engagement and keep a good relationship with younger audiences.
