How might we divide this clip into smaller sections to write about?
Helicopter ride, Inside the store, Smallville win, rockets falling, and Luthors in the cornfield.
How does this clip function in terms of storytelling? For instance, is it introducing / revealing character, developing setting, establishing conflict, clarifying relationships, etc.
These clips introduce new characters while defining possible storylines. Inside the store, Jonathan and his wife Martha can be seen with the owner Nell. Nell is happy to see Jonathan but hasn't seen a more enthusiastic reaction than Martha. This may probably feel the love interest between Nell and Jonathan. Overall, these clips help highlight Smallville's view of emphasizing cornfields and trimming them to large sizes that are destroyed by missiles. The crash could hurt Luther's father, a businessman and on-site, shortly before signing a contract that could buy a cornfield.
What greater themes are being hinted at in this clip that may show that are further explored/ developed in this episode/series?
The themes that can develop throughout the show are love and good vs. evil. In the first clip, the introduction creates the possibility of a love debate, but the destruction of the cornfield suggests a conflict between good and evil morals.
